The Main House
The Main House
The main house, or Domaine, offers sumptuous and spacious accommodation and is a beautiful example of the region’s architecture.
The south, east and west wings of the property surround a courtyard ideal for relaxed dining and on the north side is a double height barn. All buildings are constructed in local stone giving them both charm and character.
A large double aspect master suite in the west wing has superb views of the rolling hills surrounding Lesquilourié with windows opening out onto the courtyard. Every morning you awake, you will feel a little more relaxed and refreshed – a perfect antidote to stressed everyday lives.
Attention to detail and luxury touches are to be found everywhere in Lesquilourié. The impressive en-suite bathroom has a free-standing roll top bath, centrally positioned to take advantage of wonderful westerly views and has a large walk-in shower if you prefer. There are four further double bedrooms (two of which have twin beds), one with an ensuite shower room, plus two further bathrooms (additional single beds are available) – so all permutations of families and groups can be catered for.
The generously proportioned (18m x 4.2m) first-floor salon benefits from being south-facing and has French windows leading onto a balcony with far-reaching views across glorious countryside; ideal for sipping a cool glass of wine and letting your worries dissolve. Whatever you like to do on holiday, Lesquilourié has all bases covered. The salon’s two comfy sofas are positioned around a large fireplace with a wood-burning stove and we have a library and writing desk offering inspirational views for would be novelists or artists. Whether it’s activity or relaxation, you can do it here, all in tasteful style and comfort.
One of the unique features of Lesquilourié is reached via a spiral staircase. It is the Minstrel’s Gallery, a favourite place for children to hang out and relax. From the gallery, we move to the attic or fifth twin bedroom.
Comfort and style is everywhere in Lesquilourié. A beautifully crafted stone staircase leads one down to the ground floor salon, which has a dedicated TV and technology area, a large 10-seater table for formal or casual dining and a separate breakfast dining table. The well equipped and spacious kitchen which opens off from the breakfast area boasts luxury granite worktops, a Lacanche range cooker with a dual fuel double oven, spacious Liebherr fridge-freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine and microwave. Well planned and capacious storage includes a large double larder and fully equipped drawers allowing guests to enjoy simple catering to full-scale family meals.
Functionality is key to a smooth running vacation. Our utility room has everything a large family could ever need with a high end modern washing machine, tumble dryer and sink. Nearby is a separate downstairs WC.
Outside, the large inner courtyard offers the perfect setting for secluded alfresco dining. It has been the venue for many a long summer evening with friends and family; where much wine flows, good food is eaten and laughter and fun echos off the bastide walls. Just imagine your family enjoying a delicious feast before turning in for a good night’s rest then doing it all over again the next day! We know because hundreds of satisfied guests have told us so.
The Grounds and Swimming Pool
With the glorious summer weather Lesquilourié enjoys, guests tend to live their days outside. We have all bases covered. Our 17 hectare of grounds include extensive garden and grassed areas, ideal for games and exhausting small (and bigger) children. There is a small orchard for contemplation, multiple shady areas under fig and fruit trees ideal for picnics – and a large area of secluded woodland for walks and adventures. We love it here and know you will too.
On the sun terrace which fronts the house where you are surrounded by lavender and scented planting, why not take your morning coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice here. If it’s too hot, there is a covered outdoor seating area for alfresco dining near the pool.
Talking of pools, one of the key features of your holiday home will be our beautiful 12m x 8m swimming pool. Approached At the front via planted steps, the pool offers seclusion and privacy surrounded by a stone terrace. The pool’s deliciously cool waters are deep enough to dive into and has safe steps at the shallow end. Our guests remark particularly about the pool and we are quite rightly proud of this aspect of Lesquilourié.
Situated adjacent to the main house and included in your stay, we offer you a two storey converted barn named Bis which offers further flexible family or group accommodation. It has a large double bedroom, luxury bathroom with bath and shower, together with a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room. Bis has its own terrace and garden and a separate driveway for convenience.
We have covered in-house parking for three/four cars depending on size.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a dog basket and bowls. Dogs are respectfully requested not to go on the beds or furniture!
All bed linen is provided and will be changed weekly. In case of accidents (no worries- these things happen!) there is spare linen. Please let our house manager Kate know if you need more bed linen so she can arrange this and ensure the linen supply is kept in order.
Naturally, we provide an adequate supply of towels for use in the bathroom and by the pool. Pool towels can also be taken to the local lakes and rivers for those who fancy open water swimming. Please don’t forget to bring them back. There are separate towels for dogs and bikes which must not be mixed up with the pool or house towels!
For budding Masterchefs, our luxury designer kitchen with its Lacanche range cooker provides all you need to test your skills. To make your eating experience all the more enjoyable, we are blessed with many fresh food markets offering delicious seasonal produce so do take time to look at our ‘Food & Markets’ page for full details.
Lesquilourié Is provisionally let on a self-catering basis. However, if you would like us to provide catering, whether it’s an occasional evening meal or meals for the duration of your stay, this is no problem. Please see our ‘Catering’ page for more information.
After a long and tiring journey, who wants to cook!? We are sure you don’t. If you do, fine, but if not, why not enjoy a delicious welcome meal ready upon your arrival either fresh cold buffet style or ready to heat up, together with a bottle or two of our favourite local wines (see Additional Services.)
Our guests’ comfort and relaxation is our top priority so upon your arrival at Lesquilourié, somebody will be here to meet and greet you and show you how things work. Never intrusive but always on hand for those little emergencies, it’s good to know you have a house manager as a point of contact for assistance if needed. It’s our way of saying thank you for your valued custom and trusting your stay at Lesquilourié.
There is a small road that runs between the main house and the pool gardens. While the house is in a very quiet, rural location with little traffic, neighbours including farmers, the postie and school bus do use the road. It is important, therefore, that pets and children are supervised when crossing over to the pool area (and, although obvious), please do ensure that children are supervised in and around the pool at all times.
